New York City remained the center for the outbreak. On Monday, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York said that 599 more people had died in the state, a number almost identical with that of the previous day. The total number of deaths is 4,758.
President Donald Trump declared Mississippi a major disaster area due to the COVID-19 pandemic Sunday.
This declaration means federal funding will be available to supplement state, tribal and local government funding for all parts of Mississippi affected by the coronavirus.
Mississippi has reported 1738 cases of coronavirus with 51 deaths as of Monday April 6th.
